Hello Kitty You’ve Gone Too Far

I’ll admit a passing fascination with the Hello Kitty subculture. It’s cute and terrifying at the same time.  I’ll also admit that I follow the offical Sanrio blog and RSS feeds to see what twisted item Sanrio can morph into Hello Kitty.  Along those lines, I saw this little “gem” come along my RSS reader this weekend, and every ounce of my being wanted to scream out in horror.

Gloomy Kitty

That’s right, it’s Hello Kitty dressed up in a Gloomy Bear costume. And no, your eyes do not deceive, she’s holding a ketchup bottle.  You’ve got it.  She’s covered in ketchup. Isn’t that cute? NO! It’s not cute. You’ve twisted things too far this time.  Gloomy Bear is cute in a completely different, and insanely violent kind of way.  Go back to warping other things, like, a washing machine maybe.

This is a sign of the end of the world. The Punk Horror band Balzac, is now using Hello Kitty in their promotionals. Balzac started as a Misfit cover band, that has grown to a huge fan base in Japan. You will notice that Hello Kitty is wearing the signature Glenn Danzig skeleton outfit. Truly, these are the last days. Hello Kitty Balzac Japanese Horror Punk Rock Band
