The Prisoner Escapes the Village
Looks like the Prisoner has finally escaped the village. Patrick McGoohan died today at the age of 80. Could you imagine how different we would perceive 007 if Patrick hadn’t turned the role down. Instead, we got Sean, and Patrick gave us one of the greatest, and most thought provoking show in television history, The Prisoner.
McGoohan’s death, also means that there will be no cameo by Number 6 in the new Prisoner mini-series. McGoohan was more than just an actor on the show, it was his brain child. He produced, directed, started and gave creative input on all the stories. At a time when studios controlled every aspect of a TV show, Patrick convinced them to take a chance on a show where the hero loses every week.
